Art Studios and Classes
Chastain Arts Center has provided exceptional art classes and exhibits for over 35 years, making it one of Atlanta's oldest community arts centers. There are classes for all ages and for all skill levels in a variety of fine arts and crafts. There are four sessions each year, with classes that usually last for ten weeks. Many shorter workshops are also offered. Exhibits in the adjacent Gallery and throughout the Center showcase both the work of outside artists, and artwork created by instructors and students.

Art Studios at Chastain
Chastain's Kid's Studio has it all. From paints and pencils to paper and clay...our classes will provide a wide variety of projects for children to enjoy. Check out some of the new classes offered in our catalog!
The Drawing Studios at Chastain provide enough room for 12 students. Easels, chairs, and tables are provided. Figure drawing studios are equipped with model stands and lights.
Each of Chastain's painting studios allow ample natural light into the room. Thanks to the Chastain Park Conservancy, all studios are now equipped with new light fixtures. They hold energy efficient, natural light emitting bulbs to give students a better sense of color and depth in their paintings. Painting studios are equipped with easels, chairs, and tables.
The printmaking studio is equipped with one printing press, a large work table for rolling ink, a large drying rack, inks, tables and chairs.
Chastain's pottery studio has a large space that holds 13 electric wheels and a glazing area with a Laguna spray booth. This studio also houses the 3 electric kilns for bisque, low, and mid-range firing. Outside of this studio is the raku kiln shed and the cone 10 gas kiln shed.
The clay handbuilding studios provide large work tables, stools, three mobile armature stands, a slab roller, and an extruder. This studio also stores the low-fire underglazes and glazes, and the cone 6 glazes.
Our jewelry and metalsmithing studio has two large tables, as well as 5 jewelers benches to work from. The studio is equipped with 5 acetylene torches, a drill press, buffing machines, anvils, vises, and jewelers tools.
The framemaking studio is located in the gallery building. The class fee covers a lab cost for using tools and miscellaneous supplies. Framing materials are additional for each project.
