FABRIC FLASH: A Contemporary Textile Exhibition

Chastain Arts Center is pleased to announce FABRIC FLASH: A Contemporary Textile Exhibition, of women artists opening during Women’s History Month. This show represents a variety of works created from textiles including quilts, appliques, fabric collages, cloth paintings, mixed media works, installations and decorative arts organized to recognize the skills, creative and special gifts of diverse artists in Georgia.

Each of the artists has a different and unique story to tell about her style, journey, and introduction to creating with fabric. On each Tuesday during the duration of the exhibition, we will present “Artists in Motion”, featuring participating artists will be on site demonstrating their medium and talking to the public. The 14 women artists include co-curators, Sandy Teepen, and K. Joy Peters, E. Loretta Ballard, Dawn Williams Boyd, O. V. Brantley, Virginia Greaves, Odessa Huff, Marquetta Johnson, Lynn Marshall Linnemeier, Aisha Lumumba, Mrs. Padgett, Helen McBride Richter, Bobbette Robinson, and Janet Saboor.

The Opening Reception is Friday, March 29th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and the “Artists in Motion” series is every Tuesday beginning April 2 – May 14, 2019, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm.
