What is PRE'SCooL?
PRE'SCooL is the preparatory component of the ARTSCooL Summer Arts Program. PRE'SCooL introduces middle school students to the creative energy, challenges, and discipline of ARTSCooL. For eight weeks, young people between 11 and 13 years old become jr. apprentices" to a local professional artist in a daily studio setting from 11 am to 3:30pm. Each PRE'SCooL studio consists of an introduction to important artistic principles & techniques while building positive character traits that provide a strong foundation for their future personal and artistic development. Jr. apprentices also experience outing to Atlanta's cultural venues and participate in the closing ARTSCooL exhibition.
How Can I Participate?
You must be a City of Atlanta resident and attend one of the scheduled PRE'SCooL Application Sessions. Participants are selected on the basis of their artistic ability and interest in learning more about the arts. During the application session, a panel will review each applicants artwork, application, and interview.
Application Session Requirements:
* 3 to 5 samples of YOUR original artwork
* Photo Identification & Proof of Age - Bring a form of photo identification and your birth certificate
* Proof of Atlanta Residency - Provide one of the following with your parent or guardian's name printed clearly: a utility bill, voter registration card, drivers license, or state issued identification card.
* Letter of Recommendation - Bring a letter of recommendation from a teacher, community or church leader, or person of official standing on official letterhead with a contact number included.
