The Meaning of Love, Standing Anatomy, Eve & Adam

Archie Byron
Painted concrete

These sculptures were created by artist Archie Byron. He fought in World War II and then attended vocational school for bricklaying and architectural drawing under the G.I. Bill. Byron molded free standing and bas-relief sculptures using roots, branches, and gunstock sawdust from his shop. His sculptures are often of his family members, abstract forms, dogs, flowers, religious, and political images. He built a complex in West Atlanta that included his home, art studio, a fishing and hunting-gear store, and a firing range.
