Artist Statement

I was the photographer for the State of Georgia, Dept. of Economic Development for twenty five years.  This is the state agency which is charged with promoting Georgia for film and video productions, tourism, manufacturing and international trade.  My photographs have helped to depict the beauty and quality of life in Georgia through numerous advertising campaigns, promotional brochures, websites and national and international publications including Southern Living, Time Magazine, USA Today, American Heritage and the London Times.  I’ve also been the exclusive photographer for two large photography books “Oglethorpe’s Dream, A Picture of Georgia” (2001) which depicts the beauty and cultural traditions of Georgia, and “Democracy Restored, A History of the Georgia Capitol” (2007).  In December of 2006, I had eighteen black and white photos of natural landscapes of the South featured in the international publication, Lenswork Magazine (www.Lenswork.com).

I have been selected to join the Georgia Council for the Arts, the Fulton County Arts Council, and the City of Atlanta Cultural Affairs artist rosters.  I was also juried into the Southern Arts Federation (www.SouthernArtistry.org); this is a multi-media artist registry that spotlights outstanding artists who live and work in the South.  In addition, I am the recipient of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources 2008-2009 Artist in Residence Grant.
