MARC FORNES / THEVERYMANY is New York-based studio driven by the belief that public art can catalyze communities and contribute to sense of place. Our permanent projects have been installed worldwide, including most recently in Argeles, France; San Antonio, Texas and Edmonton, Canada, where we were also recently awarded our second competition-winning contract. Consistent across these projects was our objective to create a durable, low-maintenance structure that, as a visual icon, contributes to sense of place and community, while also providing a contemplative and resonant spatial experience for individuals.Even at the scale of sculpture, our design process is driven by the desire to create an immersive spatial experience. Our projects are vibrant visual icons — evident, for instance, when driving by in a car — and also resonate powerfully close-up, as contemplative experiences. Our objective is to grab attention, and also instill curiosity and invite interaction — ultimately offering a place where a visitor might accidentally lose their time.Our approach is founded on cross-disciplinary collaboration, including the design and development of an artwork, where we incorporate the involvement of local community members, and extending to fabrication. Our work is developed using cutting-edge computational methods integrating issues of cost efficiency, ease of construction and sustainability, backed up by an extensive history of productive partnerships with community groups, engineers, and manufacturers. The result is the creation of artworks that are durable, long-lasting and require little maintenance. Simultaneously an art studio and an architecture firm, THEVERYMANY has the experience and analytic capacity to produce innovative artwork and spatial design solutions. Marc Fornes, a registered Architect DPLG, provides the studio with the capability to meet any regulations, codes or other specific security and safety criteria.
