Film Series at Atlanta Cyclorama – Race: The Power of an Illusion
The division of the worlds peoples into distinct races (black, red, yellow, white) is so entrenched in our way of thinking that to suggest other wise borders, seemingly, on the insane. However, that is exactly what this film does.
Race: The Power of an Illusion prompts us to question the validity of race as a biological fact. This documentary explores the science of race and challenges long-held assumptions that human diversity can be lumped into a few paltry categories.
The Atlanta Cyclorama is proud to partner with Urban Film Review to screen a series of documentaries that focus on important themes of the Civil War and their relevance to contemporary society. After each sixty-minute film, historian and educator specializing in African American history, Nasir Muhammad will lead the audience in a facilitated dialogue designed to stimulate critical thinking and inspire community engagement.
