Cor-ten steel and concrete
This large, steel sculpture is located at Gordon White Park, which was revived by the Atlanta Beltline in 2008. The geometric, abstract sculpture draws heavily on African motifs and resembles interlocking wrenches. The scale of the piece invites the viewer to walk around he work and get involved. Artist Curtis Patterson often “embeds subtle surprises within his work as a reward for those who are motivated to explore and discover.” He has a number of large-scale public commissions across Atlanta.
Patterson is originally from Shreveport, Louisiana and received his Master of Fine Arts degree at Georgia State University. He taught sculpture for thirty years at the Atlanta College of Art. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
