Our Trees
Michael Allman
2009
Steel, cast concrete, paint
“Our Trees” are two identical pixelated, multi-layered tree silhouettes at each entrance point to Adair Park. The trees are constructed of five green individual successive steel components. Concete benches, molded to simulate tree trunks, are situated at the base of the structure. The trees pay homage to nature and mankind’s altering of it. Artist Michael Allman wants the sculptured trees to be a symbol of the unfair compensation humans give to the environment in exchange for its resources. The tree stumps represent what we have taken.
The artist, Michael Allman, created, engineered, and fabricated this large metal sculpture. Since the age of 13, Allman has worked on large metal fabrications. He creates expressive artworks believing that art should evoke emotion and welcome personal meaning and interpretation. He also works in digital media and painting and builds original furniture.
