The Mural Bike Rack Program is Underway!

In late fall of 2016, the Public Art Services—in collaboration with Chief Bicycle Officer, Becky Katz and the Department of Public Works—will be installing 18 sculptural, bike-shaped bike racks adorned with 2-D ‘murals’ around the Atlanta area. Eighteen artists have been selected to adorn individual bike shaped bike racks, that will be installed in various central Atlanta neighborhoods. The goal of the Mural Bike Rack Program is to bring attention to biking transportation and biking infrastructure through creative place-making and public art. The OCA Public Art Services team is proud to announce that the first prototype was recently completed by one of the 18 artists, John Tindel. Click here to reveal a video of the completed bike rack! This completed work, along with the 17 others, will be installed later this fall.
